How it works

Signup to your first checked-back rental in under an hour.

Six steps. No demo call, no consultant, no annual contract. The real flow, with the time each step actually takes.

Sign up + pick your country and vertical

Email + password through Cognito. We auto-detect your region from your email TLD (.com.au → ap-southeast-2, .co.nz → ap-southeast-6, .co.uk → eu-west-2, etc.) so your data stays in the country your customers are in. No credit card. The 30-day trial starts on signup.

  • Email-only signup — no credit card, no contract, no demo call
  • Region auto-pinned (AU Sydney / NZ Auckland / UK London / IE Dublin / CA Montréal / US Virginia)
  • Pick from 3 verticals: tools / party / ski. Each one seeds different starter inventory.
  • Tenant gets a UUID injected at signup time (custom:tenantId) — your records are isolated by construction
021 click, ~30 seconds

Seed 100+ starter assets in one click

Pick your vertical → we pre-load the right starter library. Tools yard gets 55 templates (jackhammer, mini-excavator, scaffold tower, MIG welder, trash pump, the lot). Party yard gets 42 (jumping castle / bouncy castle / bounce house — vernacular matches your country, marquees, dance floor tiles, glassware, lighting rigs). Ski yard gets 24 (boot-size matrix, snowboards, AT touring kits, avalanche packs). Everything's localised to your country: name ("jumping castle" AU vs "bouncy castle" NZ/UK vs "bounce house" US), price in your currency, bond amount tuned to your market.

  • Tick / untick items you don't stock before they're created
  • Edit names, daily rates, bond amounts, and quantities individually after
  • Size-matrix items (ski boots 22.0–31.0 Mondopoint, marquees 3×3 through 9×6m) auto-expand to one record per size
  • Every category has a default Unsplash photo — replace with your own gear photo when you have time
03Counter staff: ~2 minutes per handover

Take your first contract

Counter UI on desktop or tablet. Search by name or size code, add to a contract, capture renter name + email + phone, generate a magic link that texts/emails the renter their waiver. They sign on their own phone before you've finished pulling the gear — ESIGN + UETA compliant for the US, ACL-aware for AU, CCLA-2017-aware for NZ, GDPR-aware for UK/IE, PIPEDA-aware for Canada.

  • Keyboard + barcode scanner friendly — built for the 9am queue
  • Magic-link to renter phone for waiver — no paper, no tablet pass-around
  • Tax-invoice format generated in your country's official format (AU ATO >$82.50 with ABN, NZ IRD, UK HMRC VAT, IE Revenue, CA GST/HST/PST/QST, US sales tax)
  • If a renter returns and you've got their record, the next contract auto-fills their details

Hand over the kit + record the bond

You take the bond at hand-over however your shop already does — cash, EFTPOS, Square, your card terminal, your own PayPal Business, Stripe, Moneris. We don't process the payment; we record the bond on the contract with the payment method, reference number, ID sighted (driver's licence number or passport), and any photos of the gear's pre-rental condition. The money flow stays with your processor. The records stay with us.

  • Payment method dropdown: cash / EFTPOS / Square / card terminal / your PayPal / your Stripe / other
  • Reference field (auth code, transaction ID, receipt number — whatever your processor gives you)
  • ID-sighted: type (driver's licence / passport / national ID) + last-4 digits, never the full number
  • Photos via owner mobile PWA camera — attached to the contract for audit trail
051-2 minutes

Check it back in — released, captured, or partial

Owner pulls up the contract on their phone (PWA installs to home screen — no App Store review delay). Barcode scan or asset search to confirm what's coming back. Snap condition photos via the camera. Three outcomes: released (clean — bond goes back the way it came), captured (damage — you take the bond money via your processor, our system records the reason), partial-captured (a chip on the topsheet, lost remote, etc. — you take part of the bond, the reason and the difference go on the record).

  • Owner mobile PWA — install to phone home screen, works offline, ships updates instantly (no iOS / Android review)
  • Camera + BarcodeDetector for scanning + condition photos
  • Reason field captures damage description in your words — quotable in any dispute
  • Audit trail: every state change (released / captured / partial) logged with timestamp + user + photos forever
06Reports run automatically; export takes 1 click

See your reports + month-end CSV

9-card dashboard on /counter/reports/: today's overdue board, cash flow by day, asset utilisation, top renters, damage rate per category, seasonal trends, bond aging, waiver compliance audit, and revenue per asset. Tax export gives you a CSV in your country's accounting format — ATO BAS for AU, IRD for NZ, HMRC for UK, Revenue for IE, CRA for Canada, IRS-friendly for US — drop it straight into Xero / MYOB / QuickBooks at month-end.

  • Daily 5pm overdue email to the owner (every tier)
  • Daily 8am due-back SMS to the operator (Multi-yard tier and up)
  • Weekly Monday-morning summary email — week's revenue, top items, bond aging
  • Waiver compliance audit — every rental cross-referenced with a signed waiver record

What happens at day 30?

Two things: nothing automatic, and a friendly reminder a few days before. We don't take a credit card at signup, so there's nothing to charge you for if you decide not to continue. To carry on, you go to /pricing/ and pick a tier — Solo ($79), Counter ($199), Multi-yard ($299), or Pro ($379) AUD per month. PayPal Subscriptions handles the billing. Your data stays where it is — no migration on tier change.

What we don't do (so you don't buy expecting it)
